The Organic Potting Mix used for planting the seeds must be very light, have a high water and air holding capacity, and be free of disease germs and weeds. Planting mixes containing soil can be mixed with peat, humus, compost and/or manure with an approved soil conditioner and/or organic fertilizer. The need for a disease free and weed free environment supports the use of soilless media or potting mixes consisting primarily of natural materials such as peat, compost and/or manure enriched with perlite, vermiculite, peat moss and organic fertilizers.
