Emperor Specialty Foods Ltd has been a trusted name in importing and distributing premium gourmet foods since 1986. Initially specializing in fresh shiitake mushrooms, the company began importing mushrooms from China and local sources in 1995. By 1998, they were the first Canadian company to regularly import fresh mushrooms from China via ocean shipment. Their office in China, opened in 2001, allowed the company to diversify its offerings to include imported fruits and vegetables, while still producing organic fresh shiitake mushrooms at their Vancouver facility.
